Silver Travel Forum

Over a number of years Solent Richard has willingly supported the Silver Travel Advisor on both their Home and Forum pages.

Though not a dedicated cruise forum, the Silver Travel forum does have a cruise related section and over the years Solent Richard has contributed many high quality and well received reviews and reports as well as assisting in hosting ship visits by members.

However Solent Richard has now parted company with the organisation following a series of requests that he somewhat limit his contributions to the forum stating that…

” some members have much humbler travel experiences, and I don’t want them to feel inadequate.  We want the Forum to be a place where everyone feels comfortable to share their opinions and experiences. You are very fortunate to have such luxurious trips, but I really don’t feel that our Forum is the place for promoting these so expansively”.

Solent Richard has of course noted that the forum as a whole has been very limited in its travel coverage and generally relies on non travel banter threads, aka ‘What are you up to today’ and ‘What are you reading’ as a means of life support.

So alas the days of Solent Richard displaying the now redundant STA Bag in many amazing world wide places has come to an end…

That was at Nava Kailash or 108 Shiv Mandirs, one of the most amazing temples at Kalna on the River Ganges.

A full review of this amazing journey can be read at…

Seasonal EASTER 2020 Update

And a Happy Easter to all readers who enjoy the Solent’s satirical take on the UK’s Cruise and Travel forum sectors.

If you haven’t already, do check out Solent Richard’s latest review which features a new experience sailing in MSC’s Yacht Club for a 14 night Caribbean cruise onboard MSC Preziosa…

MSC Preziosa – Yacht Club Experience

There you go, who’d have thought it.

Hope you enjoyed it. What a great cruise and outstanding experience.

Almost 12 months since the previous screenshot exposing the lack of any real activity nothing appears to have changed over on Silver Travel Advisor…

…and, as highlighted, the usual spammers from the Asian sub-Continent still appear with regular monotony.

Still missing from the review pages is a cruise review by ‘Cruzeroqueen1’, aka the ‘joker’ over on the Playmates forum. It would appear ‘the Ramblings’ review of Fred Olsen’s Boudicca, Cape Town to Seychelles, was okay to publish on the Playmates site…

http://www.cruisingmates.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=12917&start=20

…but has not graced the pages of the Silver Travel Forum. One wonders why?

Surely it couldn’t be that Cruzeroqueen1 doesn’t want to offend or upset The Fossil with her poor assessment of Fred Olsen food, entertainment and  facilities, let alone the lack of transfers. And she paid well over budget for that too.

Update 31 May 2019

It’s certainly a funny old world. Just on One Month since Solent Richard parted company with the STA Forum an activity screenshot just about says it all…

The one ‘current’ comment by the ‘Joker’ in the ‘Travel Other’ section…

https://www.silvertraveladvisor.com/forums/travel-other/7478-lost-in-translation#post_90003

…’Our representative will make you wait at the airport. The bus to the hotel runs along the lake shore. Soon you will feel pleasure in passing water. You will know that you are getting near the hotel, because you will go round the bend. The manager will await you in the entrance hall. He always tries to have intercourse with all new guests’.

…has nothing really to do with travel. Google the first line and it will be revealed it is a 6 year old regurgitation of a comic strip.

Life must be really exciting in the outbacks of Albox to repeat that old one.

Meanwhile it  appears that the major activity on the site is now Indian and Asian spammers promoting dubious travel services while genuine travel questions by new joiners ( AlaxStack) go unanswered.

Solent Richard is pleased to announce that any readers who may share his views on the Silver Travel Advisor Forum will be delighted to learn of a far superior over-50s ‘Silver’ Forum with multiple subjects and a high rate of contributions. Here is the link to Silver Surfers Community…

One response to “Silver Travel Forum

  1. Yes, I’m pleased to be a member though have to remind myself to explore on a monthly basis. A lot of solid contributors with varied experience of all types of travel including cruising. Some of them have retired but now work as Travel Advisors and always on an assignment .
